Therefore, we allow players to become new creatures by being preyed upon, witnessing the biodiversity of the planet in an interactive and immersive way.
Thus, we borrow the philosophical concept of "life from death" raised by Martin Hedegger - the ultimate purpose of life is to die, and the possibilities in this process are infinite.
For nature, the death of an individual is just another new beginning. Life and death maintain the diversity of living things and give life its unique color, and we call it BIODIVERSITY!
Design Inspiration
What is the meaning of biodiversity? Ecologist Lovelock said, "Each kind of creature is the treasure of natural evolution for billions of years, But the vast majority of creatures have become extinct before they were discovered by human, leaving not a trace in the world. " - Therefore, the purpose of our game is to experience the life of creatures before they become extinct, to witness the biodiversity of this planet.
The basic mechanism of our game is built on the food chain: the food chain creates biodiversity, and it is also the basic way to link organisms and sustain nature.
③Countdown to Extinction
In the countdown to the impending extinction, players need to experience as many creatures in the group system as possible, preserving the whole data of this natural system.
All the creatures the player has experienced in one round will be recorded in the settlement panel.
④Diverse terrain system
The map in the game is divided into three types of terrain: rainforest, grassland and desert, corresponding to the realistic and diverse biosphere structure.
Main Mechanics
①Experience life
The player manipulates a spherical machine that changes into the creature it touches and simulates the creature's skills and physiological characteristics so that although they are in the same world, each animal's perspective presents a different world.
Players have to use the unique skills of these creatures to hunt and survive.
②Food Chain
When the life experienced by the player is predated, the player will be decomposed into molecules and become part of the predator's body to manipulate and experience the life of the predator. In this way, the player travels through the food chain and experiences the diverse creatures in the entire biome.
Introduction
Live to Death is an narrative game, containing elements of adventure and puzzle
The player takes on the role of an observation machine created by a godlike civilization, responsible for recording the traces of the planet's diverse life forms by "experiencing the creatures’ lives" before the biological extinction.
In the game, the player need to use predatory relationships to navigate through the complex food chain, constantly becoming new creatures. The goal of the game is to be reborn in death in order to record as much information about the creatures as possible, hence the work’s name "Live to Die".
